  1. Dr. Bazan truly provides exceptional eyecare service. His attention to detail and personal customer service makes him standout as an outstanding doctor of optometry. I never had an eye exam and was a bit nervous and hesitant in going through such an exam. However, Dr. Bazan reassured me that I would be fine and took extra steps to make me feel comfortable and at ease. He explained to me each step of the eye exam and its purpose. Dr. Bazan also stressed the importance of receiving an eye exam. In addition to his superior eyecare service, Dr. Bazan also has great taste in picking out sunglasses! In essence, Dr. Bazan is a personable individual, and I feel proud to have him as my eye doctor.

  2. I’ve been wearing contacts for 15 years or more – for distance but finally five or six years ago the near vision starting going as well. So I had to start wearing reading glasses which if you’ve crossed into that 40 something part of your life, you know is the worst .. even though you’ve bought 10 pair you never have a pair when you need them and you start feeling like some old guy with your glasses down around the tip of your nose all the time .. it’s the worst. Well, I was in for a prescription change on my contacts 18 months ago and Dr. Bazan suggested that I try a new contact that corrects near and far vision. I had an experience with something much earlier version of this concept about 10 years ago and it just didn’t work .. so I was reluctant but tried it after the doctor told me about the technology which was completely different from what I tried earlier. I was amazed! After a fitting process where Dr. Bazan showed a lot of care and patience, I could see near and far again without the hated reading glasses. I can’t tell you what a good feeling that was and continues to be. For me it has been a terrific solution .. good fit, good sight. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the convenience of contacts but starts to need reading glasses. Don’t suffer for with reading glasses for 4 years like I did ..

  3. Dr. Justin Bazan is truly an amazing optometrist. I’ve been to several great optometrists, but Dr. Bazan is by far the best.

Dr. Bazan is a very personable optometrist. He made me feel like I was his only patient. He thoroughly discussed and explained in detail any questions or concerns I had about my eye exam.

I’ve been wearing glasses since my mid-20s. Now in my 30s, I decided to explore wearing contacts. It’s challenging to be able to put in contacts as well as take them out. However, Dr. Bazan was informative and very patient with me.

I didn’t think I was going to be able to handle the procedure, but I did. Of course it took dedication on my part, but he made it look so easy that even a cave man could do it.

I highly recommend Dr. Bazan services and I’ve already referred several of my co-workers to him.

  4. I am writing to let people know that although Dr. Bazan is a terrific doctor of optometry he is a personable, patient, caring and instinctive individual. Also, his outside resources stretch FAR beyond his office on Third Avenue. I showed up at that office out of pure convenience. It is two blocks from my office. I happened to wake up one Sunday morning and found that the sight in my right eye was blurry and it took till about noon time to clear up. Also, I started experiencing a strange redness in my left eye, accompanied by what I could only describe as a little “bubble” or “blister”. No itching or soreness, just “there”. So I thought, “Guess it is time for glasses to relieve the stress and irritation of daily computer work”. At the age of 45…I figured it was time. Dr. Bazan, who to my surprise, looks young enough to be my son! LOL, put me through his battery of very thorough eye exams…but immediately he was not happy with the results. He said the redness and bubble were more than likely an inflamation of the “celophane-like” substance that surrounds the surface of the eye and it is common, treatable with steriod drops during flare-ups. Dryness and irritants can cause the flare-ups. But what bothered him the most was that he could not get a consistent reading for a perscription and all of a sudden the redness and “bubble”, which was my major concern because it looked terrible (vanity!!), was put on the back burner. He was more concerned in getting a consistent read on my eyes. Before he would treat me for anything or sell me a pair (or two or THREE) of glasses, he insisted that I go to an ophthalmogist to rule out any major conditions (pseudotumor, eye pressure issues, cornea diesease, etc.). In the meantime he prescribed a pair of reading/computer glasses to help relieve my daily eye stress. He said “use these until we get some answeres. You deserve an explanation as to why we can’t get a consistent reading. It may just be weak eye muscles…but I don’t want to assume that.” To make a looooong story short, he referred me to two of the best ophthalmogists in Manhattan and I even wound up at a cornea specialist at Columbia Hospital. They all had their concerns and did extensive tests on my eyes and blood work. They all basically agreed with Dr. Bazan’s diagnosis on the redness and bubble and they all ruled out any “serious” eye diesease…but, even they are stumped about the inconsistent vision. The most important thing I was told by all of these doctors was to make sure to wear sunglasses as that has EVERYTHING to do with the condition on my left eye which is called a pinguecula. Dr. Bazan is now comfortable treating the flare-ups with eye drops. My new eyeglasses also seem to have stabalized my vision. In closing, I want people to know that Dr. Bazan did not try to sell me several pairs of glasses, nor did he send me on my own way to all these doctors. He followed up with me and hounded each doctor for their reports so he could be kept in the loop. In the end, this young, forward thinking, conscientious, knowledgable doctor was correct on the diagnosis but had a humbleness that allowed him to reach out for a second and third opinion for the sake of his patient’s well being. I would recommend his services with utmost confidence.

  5. Thank you all so much for all the time and trouble you took to arrange for me to have two pairs of glasses during our short stay in New York at the beginning of July. I attach a photo taken on the Queen Mary 2 on the way home and I am sure you can see what a difference you have made. So many people have commented to me how different I look and how much they like my glasses. The first person to compliment me on my glasses was the Security Officer at the QM2 terminal in Brooklyn! I waited until now to contact you because I wanted to see if I needed to take them to my opticians for any alterations to be made to the frames. I am delighted to say that the fitting you did in the lobby of the hotel on our last morning in New York was perfect and no adjustments need to be made.

I realize what a lot of work, time and effort was involved in getting my glasses ready during such a short time scale but I am more grateful than I can say.

    Best wishes

  8. Dr. Bazan saw me during a walk-in appt. for a problem that had surfaced that morning. He was wonderful in explaining what he was doing with each step, and really calmed my fears along the way. I would highly recommend him to any of my friends and coworkers.

  9. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Exceptional Eye Care and Service‎ – dancinman‎ – Aug 10, 2008

I have been wearing glasses for over three decades, and Park Slope Eye Care is by far the best eye care I have ever received. Mary McRae did an excellent job fitting me with glasses and was sure to follow up on all my needs. Her impeccable style reflects not only in her dress and personal eye wear, but also in her choices she makes for her clients. Dr. Bazan went the extra mile to ensure that my vision and my general eye health was at its best. In fact, he sent an extensive email with a mapped out plan he had for my eye health, and visual needs. In a sea of corporate and “fast food” type optometry stores, Park Slope Eye is an oasis with a personal touch, that also has cutting edge technology and high end frame fashion. You should also note the price points are very reasonable!

  10. He’s a really good doctor. He’s on point with eye care and he’s passionate about what he does. The office is clean and modern rather than old and boring. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They are responsive and they call you back right away. I would definitely recommend my friends.

  11. ” Thanks Mary and Crew at Park Slope Eye. I found the service and choices superb. My entire family is seeing well thanks to you. These digital progressive lenses are impeccable-the best I’ve ever had. I thought I was seeing well but the fitting has made wearing glasses a more comfortable experience than ever. From fixing my husband’s reading glasses and talking fitting my son into the safer daily wear contacts-you guys really took great care of our whole family. Oh yes, and my opportunity to try out the multifocal contacts has been great. The time and patience you and your staff have given is exemplary!” – Ritchie family

  12. just wanted to say thanks to dr bazan for giving me suggestions to discuss with my doc here in the uk about my eyecare- he didn’t have to, and the fact he took the time out to do so says it all really.
